Basketball Teams Remember Sandy Hook Victims
The University of Hartford men's and women's basketball teams remembered the victims of the tragedy in Newtown, Conn., on Saturday, Dec. 22, prior to a basketball doubleheader at Chase Arena, Reich Family Pavilion.
The Hawks welcomed members of the Newtown Youth Girls Basketball Association and their families to the game. Youth members joined the Hawks and University of Connecticut Huskies women's teams on the court for both a moment of silence and the National Anthem.
Both the men's and women's teams will wear commemorative patches on their home and away jerseys for the remainder of the season. The two-inch patch is forest green in color and features the initials S.H. for Sandy Hook in white.
Floor decal ribbons are also visible on the Hawks' home court in memory of the victims.
