In Memoriam: Dorothy 'Dot' Farley

Dorothy Ann "Dot" Farley, who served as an executive administrative assistant at the University of Hartford for 25 years, died on Dec. 30 at the age of 82.

From 1978 until her retirement in 2003, Farley worked as an executive administrative assistant for a number of officials at the University, including the provost and the dean of Hillyer College.

Farley began her career as an executive administrative assistant at Cosmopolitan Magazine in New York. In addition to her work as an executive administrative assistant, she also was an accomplished seamstress. Farley, who was married for 59 years and raised seven children, was the mother of Ellen Levasseur of Student Affairs.

The family will receive friends today (Thursday, Jan. 3) from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave, Windsor. Funeral services will be held in the Carmon Chapel on Friday, Jan. 4, at 12 noon. Burial will follow next to her beloved husband James in Windsor Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to a scholarship in the name of Dorothy Farley can be made to the University of Hartford's Development Office, 200 Bloomfield Ave., West Hartford, CT, 06117.
