Hang a Donation on the 'Mitten Tree' in Mortensen Library!
Every year, when the winter comes, a tree grows in Mortensen Library. Our Mitten Tree!
It’s cold outside, but you can come into the library and take the chill off with some nice toasty books and articles, or even a cup of coffee from the café—or with the warm feeling of sharing with the community. Donate a hat or a scarf or a pair of mittens by hanging them on our Mitten Tree, from now through Dec. 19.
Each year, the University Libraries and the Center for Community Service gather dozens of warm winter items for donation to the needy in the Hartford area. This year, the hats, scarves, gloves and mittens will be distributed through "The Town That Cares Fund" of West Hartford. The Town That Cares Fund works with the town’s social workers to identify needy residents. The generosity of the University community will help keep hands and heads from the winter chill.
