The cover story of the Friday, Jan. 11 issue of the Connecticut Jewish Ledger was about Professor Richard Freund, director of the University’s Greenberg Center for Judaic Studies, and his latest project — uncovering information on the ancient Jewish community of Kaifeng, China. In this question-and-answer interview, Freund discusses his recent visit to China and his findings.

Stories about the release of implementation plans for the University’s Foundation of the Future project were featured on WTIC Radio, in the Hartford Business Journal, and on West Hartford Patch.com.

The University’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day observance was previewed in the Hartford Courant’s “Cal” section on Thursday, Jan. 17, and on NBC Connecticut and WTNH NewsChannel 8, both on Monday morning, Jan. 21.

NBC Connecticut did a story on Monday, Jan. 21, about how colleges and universities in Connecticut were preparing to avoid flu outbreaks as students returned to their campuses. The story, which aired during the 5:30 p.m. newscast, included interviews with students Justin Fowler and Stephanie Danek and with University spokesman David Isgur.

The Hartford Courant’s “Art Smart” blog featured a story on Friday, Jan. 18, about the “Cooking by the Book” exhibition at the Connecticut Historical Society that features the work of graduate students at Central Connecticut State University and visual communication design students at the University’s Hartford Art School.
