Career Services Director, Men’s Basketball Coach, and Hartt Students All Do Interviews on FOX CT, and More

John Kniering, director of Career Services in the Office of Student Affairs, did a live interview with FOX CT News for its Wednesday, Jan. 30, newscast at 5 p.m. Kniering talked about the changing nature of the job market and the challenges facing students who will be graduating this spring. Hartford Hawks men’s basketball coach John Gallagher and his team were featured in a segment on FOX CT’s “Comcast Sports Desk” on Saturday night, Jan. 26. Gallagher was mic’d up for the team’s Jan. 2 victory over Binghamton, and the videographer showcased him talking to the team in the locker before and after the game, as well as capturing his emotions during the game. Doris Lang Kosloff, a professor in The Hartt Opera Theatre division, was interviewed on the FOX CT Morning News Show on Friday, Feb. 1 about Hartt’s staging of the operetta “Die Fledermaus.” The show also included vocal performances by Hartt students Gregory Flower and Sidney Anderson. Michael Vahrenwald, an assistant professor of photography at the Hartford Art School, has a photo essay, titled “The People’s Trust,” featured in Bloomberg BusinessWeek. His essay, which can be viewed here, explores how former bank branches across the country are being converted to other retail uses.

Bilal Sekou, associate professor of political science in Hillyer College, was a guest on the “Stan Simpson Show” on FOX CT on Saturday, Jan. 26. Sekou talked about the second-term agenda of President Obama and his chances of achieving his goals. Watch the segment here.

The Hartford Courant’s “Art Smart” on Sunday, Jan. 27, highlighted the Joseloff exhibition by illustrators Peter McCarty and C. F. Payne, who were honored with the 2012/2013 Georgette and Richard Koopman Distinguished Chairs in illustration at the Hartford Art School, as well as their upcoming lecture.
