The following is a message to faculty and staff from Lisa Belanger, executive director of Human Resources Development.

Dear Colleagues,

It is with extremely mixed emotions that I announce that Kathe Snow, HR Generalist and Wellness Advocate in the office of Human Resources Development, will be leaving the University of Hartford. Kathe has accepted the position of Program Coordinator of Health and Wellness at Bay State Hospital in Springfield, Mass.

Kathe was hired as an HR Specialist in HRD in June 2005. Her can-do attitude, commitment and tremendous ability to get the job done was continuously demonstrated, resulting in her promotion to Senior HR Specialist in June 2007 and to HR Generalist and Wellness Advocate in February 2010.

While Kathe was responsible for many behind-the scenes HR projects and initiatives in her most recent role, she was most visible and influential in her efforts as Wellness Advocate. Clearly her passion, Kathe developed and provided dedicated oversight to wellness events and activities on campus, played a signficant role in the implementation of the University’s first formal wellness program, PureWellness!, and chaired the University’s Wellness Committee. In addition, as a culmination of her dedicated efforts, Kathe was instrumental in applying for and being awarded two wellness grants from The CIGNA Foundation, totaling $45,000. Kathe uses these funds to provide our faculty and staff with opportunities to participate in many exciting and successful health and wellness events and activities at no cost to them.

Kathe was awarded a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Western New England College in May 2005 and pursued her advanced degree while working in HRD. She was awarded her Master of Science Degree in Organizational Psychology from the University of Hartford in January 2009. In addition, Kathe began teaching as an adjunct faculty member in the Barney School of Business in Spring 2010 and continued in this role until her departure.

Please pass this information along to others in your department/college and plan to join us at a farewell reception to honor Kathe on Friday, Feb. 15, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Shaw Center. Refreshments will be served.

Thank you.
