Matacin and Haghighat to Participate in Stowe Center Panel on "Rethinking Beauty"
Mala Matacin, associate professor of psychology and founder and faculty advisor for Women for Change, and Donna Haghighat, grants and programs manager for the University's WELFund and founder and CEO of shoptimize.org, will be featured in a "Salons at Stowe" panel discussion at the Harriet Beecher Stowe Center in Hartford on Thursday, Feb. 14. The event, entitled "Rethinking Beauty: Women, Power & Influence," will take place from 5 to 7 p.m.
Salons at Stowe will be hosting the discussion to explore issues on how women can emancipate themselves from gender expectations and stereotypes and create new standards of beauty based on character, talent, and human equality.
The Salon will begin at 5 p.m. with refreshments in the Katharine Day House at 77 Forest St, Hartford. The discussion will begin at 5:30 p.m. and end by 7 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public. For reservations call 860.522.9258 ext. 317 or email info@stowecenter.org.
