Women's Basketball to Play for America East Title on Saturday

The University of Hartford women's basketball team is headed to its eighth America East Championship title game, following a 64-33 semifinal victory over the Vermont Catamounts on Sunday at SEFCU Arena at the University at Albany.

Hartford, the No. 2 seed in the America East tournament, will face the top-seeded Albany Great Danes in the title game on Saturday, March 16, at 7 p.m. in Albany. The winner of Saturday's championship game will receive an automatic spot in the upcoming NCAA tournament.

Tickets to Saturday's title game will be available beginning at 2 p.m. today (Monday, March 11) through the Malcom and Brenda Berman Athletics Ticket Office in the Reich Family Pavilion (Sports Center). Ticket prices range from $25 to $30. To purchase tickets, stop by the ticket office or call 860.768. HAWK (4295).

Hartford Men End Strong Season with Quarterfinal Loss

The Hartford men, meanwhile, ended their season Saturday with a loss to UMBC in the quarterfinals of the America East tournament. Hartford fell victim to a hot second-half shooting effort by the UMBC Retrievers as the No. 6 Retrievers came from behind to score a 69-62 win over the third-seeded Hawks.

With 17 victories this season, the Hawks (17-13) finished just one win shy of matching the program record.
