For the 2013-14 academic year, undergraduate tuition, fees, and room and board at the University will increase by 3 percent overall.

President Walter Harrison announced the increase in a letter that was sent by email to parents and undergraduate students on Wednesday, March 13.

In the letter, Harrison discussed the Foundation of the Future initiative, which is designed to focus the University's resources on its highest priorities in order to reduce costs, keep tuition increases as low as possible, and invest in strategic priorities in a tight economy.

"Through the ongoing implementation of the Foundation of the Future initiative, and our deep commitment to providing the greatest value for your tuition dollar, we are working to keep your costs as low as possible while maintaining the high quality and personal attention that distinguish the University of Hartford," President Harrison wrote.
