Women's Basketball Team in WNIT; Men Host Rider TONIGHT

The women's basketball team will host Harvard in the first round of the WNIT on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Chase Arena.

The University of Hartford women's basketball team is heading to the Postseason WNIT, where the Hawks will host Harvard on Thursday evening; meanwhile, the Hartford men will host Rider tonight in their first postseason appearance.


Hartford Men Host Rider Tonight

Cheer on the Hartford men's basketball team TONIGHT (Tuesday, March 19), as the Hawks host the Rider Broncs in the opening round of the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament. Tipoff is at 7 p.m.  in Chase Arena.

This is the first time in the University's Division I history that the men's basketball team has been invited to play in a postseason tournament. In addition, a win against Rider tonight will match the program record for most victories in a single season.

Tickets are free for University of Hartford students with valid ID.

Women to Host Harvard in WNIT

Meanwhile, the Hartford women's basketball team has learned that it will be heading to the Postseason WNIT for the fourth time in program history, earning an at-large bid into the field of 64 for the second-straight season.

Hartford will host the Harvard Crimson on Thursday, March 21, at 7 p.m. at the Chase Family Arena in the Reich Family Pavilion. The bid to the WNIT marks the ninth straight season that the Hartford women's basketball team has advanced to the postseason, including four WNIT bids and five trips to the NCAA Tournament. Last season's appearance in the WNIT lasted one game as the Hawks dropped a home decision to the Syracuse Orange 59-42. Prior to last season, the Hawks' most recent appearance was in 2009 when they earned their first at-large invitation.

Hartford enters Thursday's WNIT game with a 21-11 overall record, the seventh time in women's basketball history at Hartford that the Hawks have won 20 or more games.
