Hartt Alums Colon and Correia on NBC Connecticut, Media Coverage of Rwandan President’s Talk, and More

NBC Connecticut did a story on the return of Hartt School alums Javier Colon (’00) and Rebecca Correia (’03) to campus on Tuesday, March 19, to participate in Hartt’s Paranov Hour program. The two answered questions from students and host Dean Aaron Flagg about the ups and downs of life as singers/songwriters, and also performed some of their songs. Click here to watch the story.

The visit by Rwanda President Paul Kagame to the University of Hartford on Tuesday, March 12, to help launch the Greenberg Center for Judaic Studies’ new Holocaust and Genocide Education Initiative was covered by several media outlets, including WTIC Radio, the Hartford Courant, and All Africa.com. The visit had also been previewed on a number of media outlets, including WTNH News Channel 8 and New England Cable News.

The launching of the annual Muriel Hoff American Jewish Poetry Award, established by the Greenberg Center for Judaic Studies at the University, was highlighted in the “Write Stuff” column in the Hartford Courant’s Cal section on Thursday, March 14. Click here to read the story.

Ty Morin, a 23-year-old graduate of the Hartford Art School, was featured in an NBC Connecticut story on Saturday, March 16, about his project to photograph every single one of his original 788 Facebook friends. His project, called “Friend Request: Accepted,” aims to capture (using an old-fashioned 8X10 camera, as well as on film) the passion that Morin’s friends have for the things they love to do, whether it is sculpting, dance or body building.
