Ellen Carey, associate professor of photography at the Hartford Art School and a noted lens-based photographic artist, has several pieces included in a new exhibition at Vassar College titled The Polaroid Years: Instant Photography and Experimentation.

The Polaroid Years brings together over 100 groundbreaking Polaroid pictures by 39 artists and collectives spanning the period from the initial release of the SX-70 camera in 1972 until the present.

The exhibit opens today (April 12) and will run through June 30 at The Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. After Vassar, The Polaroid Years will travel to Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill., where it will be on exhibit from Sept. 20 through Dec. 1, 2013.
