Women's Golf Finishes Second In Hawks Invitational

Sarah Sideranko carded a final-round 79 at the Rockledge Golf Course Tuesday to lead the University of Hartford women's golf team to a second-place team finish as the host of the Hartford Hawks Women's Golf Invitational. Sideranko and the Hawks scored a 336 in Tuesday's final round at Rockledge for a combined score of 664 in the two-round tournament.

Monmouth came away with the team victory, posting a score of 648 while also boasting the individual medalist, Kelsi Kavanaugh, who scored a 157 for the tournament. Holy Cross finished third in the team standings behind the host Hawks with a score of 716.

Sideranko, a senior from New Britain, Conn., paced the Hawks in her final regular-season tournament as a collegian. After shooting an 81 on Monday, Sideranko came in with a 79 after 18 holes Tuesday, giving her a combined 160 over two rounds. With her improved score, Sideranko jumped into third place as an individual in the final standings. The 36-hole 160 stands as her best score this Spring.

Fellow senior Kirsten LaPointe finished second among Hawks and eighth overall. After a first-round 82, her lowest 18 holes this spring, the senior posted an 87 Tuesday for a two-day score of 169, also marking a low score for the spring season.
