Carole MacKenzie, LCSW, adjunct faculty member in psychology, and Irwin Krieger, LCSW, author of Helping Your Transgender Teen, presented “Authentic from the Inside Out: Working with Transgender Youth and Their Parents” at the True Colors XX Best Practices Training Institute on March 21 at the University of Connecticut in Storrs.

Research by keynote speaker Caitlyn Ryan, LCSW, PhD, founder of the Family Acceptance Project (FAP) at San Francisco State University, makes it clear that a family's response to a youth’s coming out has a significant impact on her/his well-being. Jane Clementi, mother of the late Tyler Clementi, spoke about the new Tyler Clementi Center at Rutgers University, dedicated to research, lectures, and training on issues such as cyber-bullying, the misuse of social media, and the transition from home to college.
