The following is a message from Men's Basketball Head Coach John Gallagher.

Dear Faculty, Staff, Students and the entire University community:

I want to personally thank you for your support this season. The men’s basketball program experienced one of the best seasons in school history as one of the youngest squads in the nation. We posted 17 wins, matching the program record for regular-season victories, and participated in a postseason tournament for the first time. The great success on the court was highlighted by signature wins over conference powerhouses Boston University, Stony Brook, and Vermont.

What helped us to many key victories this season was the tremendous support by the University of Hartford community. Your support was a key factor in the 77% increase in attendance at home games. We now rank among the elites in the region for mid-major basketball programs in fan support. We will continue to bring fun and exciting entertainment to our community with great giveaways, fantastic prizes, and thrilling victories.

One of my goals as head basketball coach at University of Hartford is to make sure our team represents the school in a positive manner through good sportsmanship, integrity, and hard work on and off the court. I hope that the Hartford Hawks basketball program makes you proud to be a member of the University of Hartford community as we try to uphold the school’s traditions.

On behalf of my players, coaches, and staff, we are truly thankful to the entire University community, especially the student body, for all your support this season. The energy the Hawks fans provide our team is a home court advantage unlike any in our conference. We always look forward to playing in front of our fans and are excited for next season as our program continues to grow.

When I arrived on campus, my goal was to produce more than a winning basketball team. I wanted our program to represent quality and to be a positive part of the University experience for everyone.
