Sophomore lefthander Sean Newcomb collected his second America East weekly accolade of the season on Monday afternoon as he was named the Pitcher of the Week after recording a complete game three-hit shutout of the league leading Maine Black Bears on Sunday.

Newcomb pitched his first complete game of the season and the first nine-inning complete game of his career at Hartford. The complete game is also the second of the season with freshman Kyle Gauthier completing a seven-inning game against UMBC on April 6 to earn his first victory of the season.

Newcomb allowed just three hits in Sunday's 1-0 shutout as he earned his team leading fourth victory of the season. In his 10 appearances in 2013, he has allowed 31 runs with 23 of them earned, pitching a total of 53 innings. He has also struck out a career-high 72 batters, which entering the weekend series at Maine ranked him third in the nation with an average of 13.3 strikeouts per nine innings.
