Lax Headed To America East Title Tilt for Third Straight Season

In a pivotal closing weekend of league play, the University of Hartford men's lacrosse team never trailed at Vermont and put the Catamounts away with a fourth quarter spurt to lock up its third-straight bid to the America East Championships by way of a 17-11 decision. Sophomore Kevin O'Shea poured in a game- and career–best seven goals, including three in the deciding quarter, to pace the Hawks to a 3-2 finish in conference play and a 7-6 overall record.

The University at Albany, University of Hartford, UMBC, and Stony Brook University will occupy Long Island this weekend, where the 2013 America East Men’s Lacrosse Championship will take place from May 2-4. The tournament field and bracket were settled Saturday, as the Hawks, Retrievers and Seawolves all sealed tournament bids on the regular season’s final day.

The 2013 America East Men's Lacrosse Championship, the first played at a single site since 2009, will be held at Stony Brook’s Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium in Stony Brook, N.Y. Semifinal action will take place on Thursday, May 2, with No. 2 Hartford facing No. 3 UMBC at 4:30 p.m. in the first semifinal, followed by No. 1 Albany battling No. 4 Stony Brook at 7 p.m. in the nightcap. The two winners will face off for the league title on Saturday, May 4, at 10 a.m., with the winner earning a trip the NCAA Tournament, where America East teams have won three games since 2007.

High-definition video streams of the semifinals will air for free on AmericaEast.com Thursday while the championship game will air on ESPNU on Saturday.
