Patt Presents at Conference in Germany on Jewish Resistance to the Nazis
Avinoam Patt, the Philip D. Feltman Professor of Modern Jewish History at the University of Hartford, gave a presentation at a recent conference in Berlin, Germany, on Jewish resistance to the Nazis during the Holocaust.
The conference, which was held from April 7-9 at the German Resistance Memorial Center in Berlin, was timed to coincide with Yom HaShoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day) and the 70th anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. It was sponsored by the Moses Mendelssohn Center for European-Jewish Studies at Potsdam University in Germany.
Scholars from around the world convened to discuss various facets of Jewish resistance to Nazi persecution in Europe between 1933 and 1945. Patt presented a paper titled "The Legend of the Ghetto Fighters: Zionist Youth Movements and Resistance in Poland During and After the Holocaust."
