The Hartford Lighthouse, the Men's Ultimate Frisbee Team, has improved each year since it first came into existence as a club team six years ago.

This season, team members made it to the Regional Tournament for the first time – and they almost made it to the Nationals!

"Lighthouse's success this season is the direct result of the sacrifice and commitment of its members on and off the field," said Team Captain Deebs Bigbee. "We were determined – despite obstacles in funding, field access and transportation – to establish ourselves as a highly competitive team in our region and as a legitimate, serious club sports program for student-athletes, while retaining an atmosphere of fun and inclusiveness.

"Goals for next year are even more ambitious," Bigbee said. "Not content to rest on our laurels, the team is buzzing with talk of qualifying for Nationals in 2014."

The Hartford Lighthouse went into this season with the goal of making it to the prestigious Regional Tournament. With hard work and determination, the Lighthouse placed fourth in Sectionals, securing its first-ever spot in the Regionals. During the last weekend in April, the team played impressively in the Regionals, making it to the second-place bracket to fight for a spot in Nationals. The team ultimately lost that game, but placed fifth in the tournament.

Team members walked away with their heads held high, proud of the hard work they put in to make it as far as they have. Lighthouse members will continue to put the work in next season, with the hope of going even farther.
