Backstage Café Jazz Series to Present Spring Jazz
The Backstage Café Jazz Series will be holding its ninth performance, Spring Jazz, on Saturday, May 11.
The concert will take place in the Roberts Theater at the Handel Performing Arts Center (35 Westbourne Parkway, Hartford). It will feature Hartt School faculty members and renowned jazz musicians Steve Davis and Nat Reeves, along with Hartt students.
– Steve Davis (trombone) teaches at The Hartt School, has recorded many CDs, has worked with a number of jazz icons, and makes many club/concert appearances in the New York City and Hartford areas. Davis is currently a member of the Dizzy Gillespie Alumni All-Star Big Band.
– Nat Reeves (bass) has been a faculty member of The Hartt School’s Jackie McLean Institute of Jazz since 1982 and has recorded, performed, and toured throughout the world with Jackie McLean, Pharaoh Sanders, and Kenny Garrett, among others.
– Also performing will be several students from The Hartt School’s Jackie McLean Institute of Jazz, including piano, drums, guitar, tenor sax, and vocals.
