Hartford Lacrosse Falls to UMBC in America East Semifinal

The Hawks fell to UMBC Thursday in the semifinals of the America East Championship.

The University of Hartford men's lacrosse team fell in the semifinals of the America East Championship on Thursday (May 2).

The second-seeded Hawks lost 15-13 to the third-seeded UMBC Retrievers at LaValle Stadium in Stony Brook, N.Y. Freshman Jack Bobzien scored five goals while senior Garrett Dollard added two in the Hawks' season-ending setback.

This was Hartford's third straight appearance in the America East Championship tournament.

Hartford, which finished with a 7-7 overall record, loses seven seniors to graduation. Nick Ceme, Garrett Dollard, Jared Franze, Adam Haig, Brendan Lake, Ben Liebel and Rory Nunamacher played in their final game in the scarlet and white, having earned the program's first-ever America East Championship title in 2011.
