'Stash It, Don't Trash It' Trailer Sale on Friday
Once again this year, a group of students and faculty helped collect food, clothing, appliances, and furniture donated (or discarded) by our departing students, through the "Stash It, Don't Trash It!" program.
Six truckloads of items (furniture, appliances, food, and clothing) have been taken, but the remaining items will be offered for sale to the public on Friday, May 24, from 3 to 5 p.m. (please, no early birds!), with proceeds donated to local nonprofit organizations.
The sale will be held at a trailer that was generously donated by Fallon Moving & Storage. The trailer is parked behind Konover Campus Center. (See campus map or photo at right).
Items available will be pictured on the "Stash It, Don't Trash It!" website by Friday morning. Many things will be free, so come and take a look.
This year the trailer sale is taking place before the Salvation Army comes, so there should be more interesting things, even though items have been picked up by or delivered to Vecinos Unidos, A Hand Up, and Goodwill. You can learn more about these recipients at: http://uhaweb.hartford.edu/uhdonates/Recipients.htm.
Payment procedure: We ask that you pay by check made out to any of the charities and nonprofits listed below. You will then have a charitable deduction and the charity will have a contribution (and the dumpster will have nothing!).
Cash payments will be split between the University’s Project Horizon and Habitat for Humanity.
Pickup procedure: Please take the items on Friday, but larger items can be picked up by arrangement, provided they were paid for at the sale and picked up before Tuesday, May 28, when the trailer is returned to Fallon Moving.
You can make checks out to any of the following charities and nonprofits:
