Lax Pair Selected to Scholar-Athlete Team
A pair of University of Hartford men's lacrosse student-athletes have been selected to the 2013 New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Associate Senior Scholar-Athlete Team. Garrett Dollard and Rory Nunamacher represent the Hawks on the 32-member list.
The Scholar-Athlete Team acknowledges the graduating seniors from their respective schools who have earned a 3.0 cumulative grade point average or higher and have excelled outside of the classroom and on the lacrosse field as well.
Having spent two seasons with the Hawks after transferring from Onondaga Community College for the 2012 season, Dollard holds a 3.70 GPA and graduated on Sunday from the Barney School of Business with a degree in economics/finance.
Previously recognized by the America East Conference by earning a spot on the All-Academic Team last month, Dollard finished sixth in scoring with 20 points, including 11 assists, second-most on the team. Two of his nine goals went down as game-winners against both UMBC and Dartmouth.
A three-time America East All-Academic Team member, Nunamacher owns a 3.40 GPA and graduated from the Barney School of Business with a degree in accounting. Finishing third in scoring with 29 points, the midfielder from Albany, N.Y., scored 18 goals, third-most on the team, and added 11 assists.
A three-time America East All-Conference honoree who earned First Team distinction as a senior, Nunamacher handed out four assists in his final game as a Hawk against UMBC to become the 17th member of Hartford's 100-Point Club. In addition, he was recognized earlier this month by the NEILA, grabbing a spot on the organization's All-New England First Team.
Joining Dollard and Nunamacher as members of Hartford's class of 2013 were Nick Ceme, Jared Franze, Adam Haig, Brendan Lake and Ben Liebel. The seven seniors led the Hawks to a 7-7 finish this past season including the program's third-straight America East Championship appearance.
