The following is a message from Lisa Belanger, executive director of Human Resources Development.

In March, I announced that the Banner Revitalization Committee has begun its work on the identification and implementation of electronic workflow opportunities aimed to create greater institutional efficiencies as well as reduce our carbon footprint. The first institutional process to be impacted by the Banner Revitalization Committee was to transition the paper-based Personnel Action Form (PAF) and roster process to an electronic one.

The Electronic Personnel Action Form (ePAF) implementation team, consisting of representatives from Information Technology Services, Human Resources Development (HRD), Payroll and the Budget Office, has been working diligently on this project since January. With the help of a consultant from Ellucian, the team has completed two weeks of on-site implementation work and is meeting again during the last week of May to continue these efforts.

In addition, the implementation team was delighted to have our focus group, consisting of a cross-representation of University employees who currently process PAFs (and rosters), meet in late April. Our community’s input is instrumental in this implementation process, and their feedback was extremely valuable. We are planning to meet again with these constituents (and representatives from our pilot groups) in June to show them what we’ve accomplished to date.

We are happy to announce that we are on track to meet our first target – to roll out Phase One of the ePAF implementation by working closely with designated pilot groups who employ student workers this summer. Our goal is to implement all student ePAFS by the onset of the Spring 2014 semester. Once the student ePAF process is up and running smoothly, we will begin to pilot both staff and faculty ePAFs.

We are extremely excited about this step forward in our institution’s use of technology. If you have any questions or feedback regarding the ePAF implementation process, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Thank you for your support!
