Mello Presents at International Conference
Jim Mello, assistant provost for academic administration, budget and planning, presented a research paper entitled “In Support of Others: An Examination of Psychological Capital and Job Satisfaction in Academic Staff” as part of the International Conference on Learning and Administration in Higher Education, which was held May 22-24 in Nashville, Tenn.
Mello's research explored the relationship between the personal asset of psychological capital brought to the job by academic staff and the characteristics of the work performed. The study was the first to examine psychological capital and job satisfaction within the context of higher education. This expansion of research into academic staff offers additional insights for institutional leaders and highlights opportunities for leadership and performance enhancement.
The International Conference on Learning and Administration in Higher Education brings together a wide variety of individuals from many different countries and disciplines for the purpose of exchanging experiences, ideas, and research findings in the processes involved in learning and administration in the academic environment of higher education.
