Seven programs in the University of Hartford athletics department were recognized on Wednesday by the NCAA for earning Division I Public Recognition Awards, representing the latest multi-year Academic Progress Rate (APR). Public Recognition Awards honor teams in the top 10 percent of all programs in each sport.

The men's indoor and outdoor track and field teams led the way for the Hawks, earning a Public Recognition Award for the eighth straight year. The track and field team's eighth straight distinction leaves Hartford among a group of 61 schools who have had one or more teams recognized in each of the last eight years.

The men's tennis team and the women's volleyball team were both recognized for the fourth straight year while the men's cross country team and men's basketball team received the honor for the third and second times, respectively. Rounding out the seven Hawk teams was the women's golf team, which was honored for the first time.

A total of 976 teams were honored by the NCAA, of which 24 represented the America East Conference. Among the league's 24 honorees, the Hartford volleyball team and the men's tennis team were the only conference representative in that sport. The Hawks' seven teams honored are the most among the nine league institutions, with Boston University and Maine second with five teams receiving accolades.
