Hartt Students Continue Tradition with Capital Classics Shakespeare Festival
Since 2004, the region’s summer Shakespeare-in-the-Park theatre company, Capital Classics, has hired faculty from The Hartt School five times and provided paid acting work for 48 Hartt students, giving many their first professional acting jobs. Often their Capital Classics experience has led to more local video and radio work for these young actors.
This year several Hartt students are involved with the Capital Classics production of The Winter's Tale, which runs July 25 through Aug. 8. Hartt actor training students Jacob Grannan ’14, Lizzy Jutila ’15, and Lexi Alioto ’14, along with adjunct faculty member David McCamish, appear in the production.
Graduate violin student Rebekah Butler plays music for the production, composed by graduate composition student Matt Primm.
Previously, Hartt full-time faculty members David Watson and Diana Moller-Marino worked with Capital Classics actors as they developed their artistic skills. Watson now serves on the company’s board of directors.
