Former Public Safety Officer John Vignone, Jr. Passes Away

John A. Vignone, Jr., 56, of Newington, who was retired from the University of Hartford after more than 20 years of service in the Department of Public Safety, died unexpectedly Thursday, June 13, in Newington.

Most recently he was employed by Murphy Security of New Britain.

Born in Hartford, he was the son of Helen (Rapoli) Vignone of Wethersfield and the late John A. Vignone, Sr. Besides his mother he is survived by his two children, Alyssa Nicole Vignone and Nicholas Raphael Vignone, both of Broad Brook; his brother and sister-in-law, Michael J. Vignone, Sr. and Doris Vignone of Enfield; his nephew, Michael J. Vignone, Jr.; his aunts, Lillian DiStasio of Pompano Beach, Fla., Christine Munoz and Josephine Vignone, both of Wethersfield; and his cousin, Antoinette “Toni” Munoz of Wethersfield.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday (June 20) at 10 a.m. in the Church of the Incarnation, 544 Prospect St., Wethersfield. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to Corpus Christi School, 581 Silas Deane Highway, Wethersfield, CT 06109.
