For 55 Pratt & Whitney student interns from around the country, the University of Hartford’s Park River Apartments have become their temporary summer home.

These students have traveled from Georgia Tech, Penn State, MIT, Columbia, Cornell, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, and many other colleges and universities around the country for the opportunity to work in the headquarters of the multi-billion dollar aerospace manufacturing company located in East Hartford.

This is the second year that the University of Hartford has housed Pratt & Whitney summer interns on campus.

The University will host a number of other programs and groups on campus throughout the summer, including the Cadet Police Academy, the Summer Bridge program, Hartt Dance and Chamber, and the overnight Elite basketball camp, among others.

As one of the “big three” aero-engine manufacturers, Pratt & Whitney aircraft engines are widely used in both civil aviation and military aviation. Pratt & Whitney is a subsidiary of the United Technologies Corporation (UTC), an American multinational conglomerate headquartered in Hartford that researches, develops, and manufactures high-technology products such as aircraft engines, helicopters, fuel cells, and much more.
