The University of Hartford men's golf team excelled in the classroom as well as on the course during the 2012-13 academic year, earning a spot on the Farmers Insurance All-Academic Team list, as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America this month.

The Hawk men boasted a 3.31 grade point average last season. Teams must maintain a grade point average of 3.0 or higher to qualify as All-Academic. A total of 143 men's golf teams across the nation earned the distinction.

The team honor comes after a season in which the Hawk men placed six members on the America Sky Men's Golf Conference All-Academic Team. Juniors Michael Kelly and Addison Owens, sophomores Wally Gonzalez and Dan Yustin and freshmen William Betts and Evan Russell all earned academic honors from the conference.

On the course, the Hawks played 31 rounds over 12 tournaments during the 2012-13 campaign, earning three team titles in a four-match span during the fall schedule. As a team, Hartford averaged 297.32 strokes-per-round, the lowest average in Hartford's Division I history.
