CAPS Director David Albert Headed to University of Chicago
The following is a message from Vice President for Student Affairs Lee Peters.
Dear Colleagues,
It is with a mixture of sadness and joy that I announce that Dr. David Albert will be leaving his position as Director of Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) here at the University of Hartford to take on the role of Director, Student Counseling Services, at the University of Chicago.
David has done a fantastic job in his six years here and he will be missed. At the same time, this represents an amazing opportunity for David and the University of Chicago is very lucky. Please click on the following link to read a formal announcement of his appointment: www.keelingassociates.com/ka-congratulates-dr-david-albert/?p=1644. David’s last day will be Sept. 6 – stay tuned for an announcement of an informal opportunity to say goodbye coming your way shortly.
We are extremely fortunate that Dr. Nick Pinkerton has agreed to step in as Interim Director of CAPS to provide leadership of CAPS in order to continue the great service that the department has been providing for our students and campus community. Nick earned his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology here at the Graduate Institute of Professional Psychology (GIPP). Having completed stints at Northwestern University, Eastern Connecticut State University and Connecticut College, Nick is beginning his fourth year in CAPS . . . by all accounts an accomplished practitioner and excellent campus community member.
In another fortunate turn of events, we have been able to recruit Sarah Hewes to fill Nick’s staff position in CAPS. Sarah expects to receive her Doctorate in Counseling Psychology from the University of Miami in December. She was an intern with CAPS in 2011 and has also worked at Yale University, Barry University and the University of Miami. Bright, personable and another fine practitioner, we look forward to great service from Sarah.
