Public Safety Officer Corey Rossignol joined the University of Hartford's Department of Public Safety on April 22, 2013. In addition to serving as a Public Safety officer, he also is a member of the National Guard, holding the rank of lieutenant.

During the week of Aug. 7, Officer Rossignol was notified that his National Guard unit was placed on active military status and he would have to prepare his unit for its assignment to Afghanistan. His deployment will begin on Thursday, Aug. 15, and will last for at least one year.

"Officer Rossignol is an outstanding young man and was progressing into a fine officer here at the Public Safety Department," said Public Safety Lt. Chris Lyons. "As a father of a son who served two tours in Iraq, I know the challenges that Officer Rossignol will face upon his arrival in Afghanistan and want to make sure that we wish him well in his year’s deployment."
