Abby Ilumoka, professor of electrical and computer engineering, CETA, chaired two sessions at the International Conference on Renewable Energy for Developing Countries, ICREDC06, April 6-7 in Washington, D.C.
The conference – sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy and IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) Society on Implications of Technology – provides a forum for discussion on topics relevant to the development of sustainable alternate energy solutions throughout the world, and in developing countries in particular. Sessions chaired by Ilumoka featured papers on solar and wind power research and technology for conversion of biomass to valuable fuel.
Pat Morelli, instructor in the Department of Rhetoric, Language, and Culture (RLC) and director of the Center for Reading and Writing, presented a paper at the 57th annual Convention of the College Composition and Communication Conference in Chicago on March 25. "Teaching Rita: 'Out of the Box' Composition for Hearing-Impaired Students" was co-authored by E. Lynne Golden, Director of Learning Plus.
On April 8, Morelli facilitated a workshop entitled "Let's Talk about Plagiarism! Should Writing Centers be Standard Bearers for Academic Integrity?" at the annual conference of the Northeast Writing Centers Association at Souhegan High School in Amherst, New Hampshire.
