Javon Jackson, Imani Winds to Perform at Hartt Dean's Convocation

Acclaimed saxophonist Javon Jackson, the new chair of The Hartt School's Jackie McLean Institute of Jazz, and Imani Winds, the newly appointed artistic advisor of Hartt Chamber Music, will perform at the Hartt Dean's Convocation on Thursday, Sept. 5, at 12:15 p.m., in Lincoln Theater.

Hartt School Dean Aaron A. Flagg invites all members of the University community to attend.

Dean Flagg will deliver welcoming and introductory remarks at the Convocation. Javon Jackson, associate professor of jazz and chair of the Jackie McLean Institute of Jazz, will perform. A trio of Imani Winds members also will perform. In addition, Karen Cook, Hartt's new assistant professor of music history, will provide an overview of her research interests in medieval and renaissance notation and its ramifications.
