Freshmen Trips to Big E, Salem, and More!
Each year, the Office of Residential Life sponsors a series of activities for first-year students called “Freshmen Fall Activities.” These events are either free or come at minimal cost. Listed below are the events we will be hosting this fall just for FRESHMEN!

Hawk Quest
Date: Friday, Sept. 13
Time: 8-11 p.m.
Location: Meet in Alumni Plaza. The event will have you walking around campus.
Cost: FREE
Participate as an individual or as a team in an interactive scavenger hunt around campus. We will be spending over $1,000 on a variety of prizes for this event. Individuals and teams will have a chance to win many prizes. More information about the prizes will be emailed later this week.
The Big E Trip (West Springfield, MA)
Date: Saturday, Sept. 21
Time: Bus leaves at 11 a.m. and returns to campus by 8 p.m.
Cost: $10 (includes transportation and admission to Big E)
Join us for New England’s biggest fair, The Big E! You will have a chance to see all the Big E has to offer, which includes food, shopping, entertainment and more. Don’t forget to bring spending cash for food, shopping, and rides!
Salem Mass & Haunted Biz Baz Trip (Salem, Mass.)
Date: Saturday, Oct. 5
Time: Bus leaves at 1 p.m. and will return to campus by 11:30 p.m.
Cost: $10 (includes transportation and admission to Salem Witch Museum)
There is no place like Salem during the month of October! Come join us for a trip to historic Salem, Massachusetts (the location of the original Salem Witch Trials) to participate in a variety of Halloween-related festivities, including a trip to the Salem Witch Museum. Students will have the chance to enjoy all the city has to offer, including the famous Biz Baz Street Festival. Don’t forget to bring spending cash for food and shopping!
Providence Water Fire Festival (Providence, R.I.)
Date: Saturday, Oct. 12
Time: Bus leaves at 1 p.m. and will return to campus by 11:30 p.m.
Cost: $5 (includes transportation)
Join us for a trip to the Providence Water Fire Festival (an event that only happens at select times each year) in beautiful downtown Providence, R.I. Students will have the evening to themselves to view the festival, shop at the Providence Place Mall, and enjoy all that Providence has to offer. Don’t forget to bring spending cash for shopping and food!
You can sign-up for the Big E, Salem, and/or Providence trips and pay either online (through your credit card – you will be charged a small processing fee in addition to the cost of the event) or in person with cash at the Student Centers Administration Information Desk located in GSU.
