Hartt Kicks Off Performance Year with Lions Gate Trio and Silent Film Screening
The Hartt School will officially kick off its exciting performance schedule for the 2013-14 academic year with two special performances featuring Hartt faculty members. Both performances are free and open to the public.
On Thursday, Sept. 12, at 7:30 p.m. in Millard Auditorium, Lions Gate Trio, Hartt’s trio-in-residence – cellist Darrett Adkins, pianist Florence Millet, and violinist and Hartt faculty member Katie Lansdale – will perform Beethoven songs, featuring guest soloist and Hartt faculty member Cherie Caluda, soprano; Beethoven’s "Ghost" Trio Op. 70; and Schubert’s Trio No. 2 in E-flat major.
On Saturday, Sept. 14, at 7:30 p.m. in Lincoln Theater, Hartt faculty member Patrick Miller will provide live piano accompaniment for a special screening of D.W. Griffith's 1920 silent film Way Down East (Museum of Modern Art restoration, the definitive version), starring Lillian Gish and Richard Barthelmess. Running time: 150 minutes.
