Robert Leve, associate professor of clinical psychology, College of Arts and Sciences, published the lead article titled, “Cognition, Complexity, and the Principles of Flight” in the January/February 2006 issue of Complexity, the leading journal in the area of complexity and chaos theory. This is Leve’s second publication in Complexity; his first article for the journal, titled “Informational Acquisition and Cognitive Models,” was published in 2004.
Sharon Toffey Shepela, professor of psychology, Hillyer College, presented a paper titled, "Finding the Courage to Resist," at the conference, "Ordinary People, Extraordinary Courage and Hope." The conference was sponsored by the Center for the Study of Women and Social Change at Smith College on March 30, 2006.
The paper was part of a panel of presentations by authors of a book/manuscript on courageous resistance to human rights abuses. The panel included Shepela, Myron Glazer of Smith College, Penina Glazer of Hampshire College, Kristina Thalhammer of St. Olaf College, Paula O’Loughlin of the University of Minnesota/Morris, Nathan Stoltzfus of the University of Southern Florida, and Samuel MacFarland of the University of Western Kentucky.
