Accolades: Andy Buonano, Lisa Belanger, Denise Bard
Posted 5/19/2006
Executive Director of Human Resources Development Andy Buonano and Directors Lisa Belanger and Denise Bard gave a presentation on May 2 at the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources (CUPA-HR) in Saratoga, N.Y. The CUPA-HR Eastern Region Conference had the largest attendance ever, with 335 human resources professionals.
While the majority of the HR presentations dealt with policies and regulations, Buonano, Belanger, and Bard delivered a presentation on the responsibilities and functions of a human resources department. Their presentation focused on transitioning the University of Hartford HR Department from a specialist to a generalist function. Emphasis was placed on focusing on the essential core disciplines, customer service, cross training, and documentation of administrative procedures for administrative and managerial responsibilities.
The presentation received excellent reviews, and many attendees said they were looking forward to returning to their colleges and universities and putting some of the University of Hartford’s practices in place.
“This was a great experience and gave the University of Hartford considerable recognition,” Buonano said.
