Posted 2/24/2005
The Edward C. and Ann T. Roberts Foundation has awarded multimedia artists Jeffrey Krieger, Gene Gort, and Ken Steen its prestigious New Works Grant. The grant has been awarded to the three artists to create a collaborative work that will celebrate the 2006 opening of the new wing at the New Britain Museum of American Art.
Krieger, a 1985 alumnus of The Hartt School, is principal cellist of the Hartford Symphony Orchestra and e-cellist, and Gort is associate professor of video/media arts at the Hartford Art School. Steen, a composer and associate professor of music theory and composition at Hartt, is director of Studio D, Hartt’s electronic music/sound/noise studio.
Their collaborative work will celebrate the opening of the new state-of-the-art performance space at the New Britain Museum, as well as the museum's community and art collection.
The premiere of the new work is scheduled for the fall of 2006.
