Len Milling, associate professor of psychology, A&S, and Anne M. McGinnis '04, delivered a peer-reviewed presentation titled “Psychological Treatment of Musical Performance Anxiety: Current Status and Future Directions” at the 18th Annual Convention of the Association for Psychological Science in New York City this past May.

The presentation offered a comprehensive review of empirical research on the effectiveness of psychological interventions for performance anxiety experienced by musicians. It was based on a peer-reviewed article of the same title published last year in Psychotherapy: Theory, Research, Practice, Training and in a psychology honors thesis prepared by McGinnis under the direction of Milling.

McGinnis, a double major in A&S psychology and Hartt music education, now attends the Ph.D. program in school psychology at Penn State University.

The Association for Psychological Science (previously the American Psychological Society) is a national organization of psychologists dedicated to the advancement of scientific psychology.
