The NOVA documentary about Freund’s archaeological discoveries in Israel’s Cave of Letters aired in April and May around the United States. Freund gave talks about the Cave of Letters excavations and about his book, Secrets of the Cave of Letters, for the Archaeological Institute of America chapter in Chappaqua, N.Y., in April and for the Washington County Educational Group in May. Also in May, Freund gave a presentation about his archaeological excavations in Spain, as a guest speaker at Beth Israel Synagogue in West Hartford.
At the end of June, Freund was invited to speak in the United Kingdom at the London College and at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, on the University of Hartford's excavations at Qumran and Bethsaida, respectively. From there, he went to Israel for the University's archaeology program at the ancient cities of Nazareth, Yavne and Bethsaida.
