Accolades: Tom Filburn
Posted 7/26/2006
Tom Filburn, assistant professor of mechanical engineering, CETA, attended the 36th International Conference on Environmental Systems in Norfolk, Va., from July 17-20.
The conference is the preeminent event for scientists who work on life support systems for enclosed spaces, such as spacecraft, submarines, and even buildings that are sealed due to homeland security concerns. The conference brings together researchers from industry, academia, the Department of Defense, and numerous NASA centers.
Filburn co-authored two papers at this year’s conference: “Monolithic Sorbents for CO2 Removal” and “Single-walled Carbon Nanotubes for Regenerable CO2 Removal in Space Environments.”
