The University of Hartford women’s basketball team will host Dartmouth College in the Preseason Women’s National Invitation Tournament (WNIT) on Friday, Nov. 10, at 7 p.m., at the Chase Arena in the Reich Family Pavilion (Sports Center).

Tickets for the game are now on sale, and can be purchased through the University of Hartford Athletics Box Office at 768-HAWK (4295).

This is the first time in program history that the Hartford women have been invited to play in the Preseason WNIT. The invitation follows the most successful women’s basketball season in school history. During the 2005-06 season, the Hawks won their second straight America East championship, defeated 19th ranked Temple University in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament, and surpassed any previous win total with a 27-4 overall record.

Hartford is one of only 16 teams that have been invited to play in the prestigious preseason tournament. The winner of the Nov. 10 match-up between Hartford and Dartmouth will advance to play either Purdue or Belmont in the second round of the tournament.

Tickets for the WNIT game are priced at $12 for adult general seating and $16 for adult reserved (chair back) seats. Youth tickets are $5 for general admission and $13 for reserved seats. VIP seating is also available at $30 per person, with the price of admission including hospitality. All general admission seats are bleacher seating, while reserved seats and VIP are chair back seating.

Hartford returns all but four members of last year’s squad and will see the addition of four new faces on the court. The top returning players will be Danielle Hood and Erica Beverly, two of the top three scorers on the team.
