The women's basketball team will make its first-ever appearance in the preseason Women's National Invitation Tournament on Friday. The Hawks will take on Dartmouth at 7 p.m. in the Chase Arena, Reich Family Pavilion.
The following is a letter to the University community from President Walter Harrison.

Dear Colleagues:

Friday will be a banner day for University of Hartford athletics.

The women's soccer team, 2006 champions of the America East Conference, will face off in a first-round NCAA match against Rutgers University, currently ranked 20th in the country. The game will be played in Piscataway, New Jersey, beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Also on Friday night, the 2006 America East Conference Champion University of Hartford women's basketball team will face Dartmouth College in the first round of the Women's National Invitation Tournament, the WNIT. This is the first time that the University has been selected to play in the WNIT, and the first time we have ever hosted a WNIT game. It will be a great way to begin the 2006-2007 season.

The game begins at 7 p.m. Friday at the Chase Arena in the Reich Family Pavilion.

Since this is the first time we have been selected to host and participate in the pre-season tournament, it is especially important that we have a good crowd on hand for the game. I hope you will join me in cheering the Hawks to victory and in showing the tournament organizers that we support our women's team well here in Hartford. You can get your tickets by calling 768-HAWK.

Win or lose, we're very proud of both our women's soccer and women's basketball teams.

I hope to see you Friday night. Go Hawks!

Walter Harrison
President
