Wrap up 2006 with Hartford Hawks basketball on Dec. 29, as the men play a home game against Canisius College and the women take on UConn at the Hartford Civic Center.
Men Play Canisius
The Hartford men will play Canisius College on Friday, Dec. 29, at 1 p.m. at the Chase Arena, Reich Family Pavilion (Sports Center). Admission for children (ages 15 and under) is free with the purchase of an adult ticket. University of Hartford faculty and staff can purchase tickets starting at $4. All regular season Hartford home games are free for University of Hartford students.
You can order tickets through the University of Hartford Athletics Box Office at 860.768.HAWK (4295), or online at www.hartfordhawks.com. If you can’t attend the game in person, you can follow the action live on WDRC radio (1360 AM).
The Hartford men, under new Head Coach Dan Leibovitz, are enjoying their best start in 10 years. The Hawks have won six of their last seven games and are 6-4 for the first time since 1996-97. They will travel to Providence, R.I., on Dec. 22 for a noon game against Brown University.
Women Face UConn
The Hartford women’s basketball team will face off against the University of Connecticut (currently the No. 6 team in the country) on Friday, Dec. 29, at 7 p.m., at the Hartford Civic Center. This is a home game for UConn. Tickets are $22 and can be ordered through Ticketmaster, at 860.525.4500 or www.ticketmaster.com.
Afterward, join the Hawks for a post-game gathering at City Steam Brewery, 942 Main St., in downtown Hartford. The team and coaching staff will mingle with fans in the City Steam Board/Pool Room immediately after the Hartford-UConn game. All Hartford fans are welcome to attend.
If you can’t attend the game in person, you can watch it live on Connecticut Public Television, and you can listen to Hawks’ radio coverage on WWUH (91.3 FM or www.wwuh.org).
