Hawks off to Perfect Start in America East Play

The men’s and women’s basketball teams are off to strong starts in conference play, each racking up 2-0 records against America East opponents.

The men’s team pulled out a thrilling 80-75 double-overtime victory over Boston University on Saturday. Just a few days earlier, the Hawks beat Maine 62-60 in their conference opener.

The men, with an overall record of 8-6, will play their next game on the road at the University of New Hampshire on Thursday, Jan. 11, at 7 p.m. Their next home game is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 13, at 2 p.m., against Stony Brook. Meanwhile, the women’s basketball team maintained its perfect record against America East opponents by squeaking out a 48-47 victory against New Hampshire on Sunday. On Jan. 4, the Hawks beat Stony Brook 61-54 in their conference opener.

The women now head to Vermont for a game on Wednesday, Jan. 10, at 7 p.m. The Hawks, who have an overall record of 9-6, will play their next home game on Wednesday, Jan. 17, at 7 p.m., against UMBC (University of Maryland, Baltimore County).
