Hawks Pick Up Five Honors at America East Banquet
Posted 3/9/2007
The awards banquet was held on the court of the Binghamton University Events Center, which is hosting the 2007 America East Women’s Basketball Championship. The top-seeded Hartford Hawks will play their first game of the tournament against Albany tonight (Friday, March 9) at 6 p.m.
You can follow the team’s progress throughout the tournament by visiting the Hawks Hoop-Blog, at hawksncaa.blogspot.com.
In addition to Rizzotti’s Coach of the Year honor, the Hawks saw four All-Conference team members, led by Danielle Hood and Ikea Witt being named First Team All-Conference. Joining Hood and Witt in the honors column was freshman stand-out Diana Delva, who was named to the Third Team All-Conference and the All-Rookie Team.
For information on Hood, Witt, and Delva’s records, and for a complete list of America East women’s basketball award winners, visit www.hartfordhawks.com or www.americaeast.com.

The Hawks will begin their quest for a third consecutive America East championship – and an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament – when they take on No. 8 Albany in a quarterfinal match tonight (Friday) at 6 p.m.
You can listen to tonight’s game – and all games in which the Hartford women play – on WWUH radio (91.3 FM or www.wwuh.org).
If the Hawks win tonight’s game, they will go on to play either No. 4 Binghamton or No. 5 Boston University in the semifinal round on Saturday (March 10) at 7 p.m. The semifinals will be televised live on New England Sports Network (NESN).
The winners of Saturday’s two semifinal games will face off in the title game on Sunday (March 11) at 5 p.m. That game also will be televised live on NESN and on MSG.
