Hawks to Host Bucknell in Women’s NIT

The University of Hartford women’s basketball team has been selected to take part in the postseason Women’s National Invitation Tournament (WNIT), and its first-round game will take place here on campus.

The Hawks will host Bucknell University in the first round of the tournament on Thursday, March 15, at 7 p.m., in the Chase Arena, Reich Family Pavilion.

Tickets will go on sale at noon today (Tuesday). Current season ticket holders who purchase their tickets by 8 p.m. today will be guaranteed to receive their season ticket seats for this game.

Tickets for the game will be available through the University of Hartford Athletics Box Office in the Sports Center, or by phone at 860.768.HAWK (4295). Box Office hours are Tuesday from noon to 8 p.m., and Wednesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The Hawks earned the right to play in the WNIT by winning their second-straight regular season America East title. Hartford did not receive an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament on Monday night.

The Hawks enter the WNIT with an overall record of 24-8. Bucknell won the regular season title in the Patriot League, but lost to Colgate in the conference tournament quarterfinals.

The winner of the Hartford/Bucknell game will go on to play South Carolina on the South Carolina campus.
