Ira Braus
Ira Braus, associate professor of music history, The Hartt School, has been selected to participate in the 2005 Institute on Rhythm and Temporality at Mannes College of Music in New York in June. During the past 10 years, Braus has published several articles on the cognition of rhythmic complexity in music.
Elizabeth Burt
Elizabeth Burt, associate professor of communication, has published “Working Women and the Triangle Fire: Press Coverage of a Tragedy” in the Winter issue of Journalism History. In addition, she has been selected as an associate editor by Thomas Gale Publishing to assist in the preparation of the “19th Century Newspaper Digital Archive.” The archive will consist of approximately 500 American newspapers that were prominent and influential during the period.
Natalie Frank
Assistant Professor of Psychology Natalie Frank and graduate students Christina Murray and Christopher Spelman summarized research findings on alternative views of the benefits of optimism and using art as an indicator of childhood bullying at the Eastern Psychological Association Annual Conference in Boston.
The presentations focused on two research studies conducted by Frank and Murray. The first, authored by Frank and her graduate research team of Maria Moncayo, Timothy Hughes, Christopher Spelman, Lucasz Krol, Eric Robbins, Christina Murray, Rushina Bhatt, and Catherine Morrell, was titled “Is Optimism Always Such a Good Thing?”
The second, authored by Christina Murray, Christopher Spelman, and Frank, among others at different institutions, was titled “Children’s Drawings as Indicators of School Bullying.”
