Some Things You Should Know, Just in Case

It’s been more than two decades since the university has implemented the Commencement rain plan, and with any luck, that trend will continue. But if it does rain on Sunday, there are a few things you should know.

• To find out if the rain plan is in effect, log on to www.hartford.edu or call 860.768.4100 on Sunday morning, after 6:30 a.m. If the rain plan is being implemented, there will be a message on the website and on the phone line. In addition, signs will be posted at the two campus entrances.



• Members of the “platform party” – including regents, honorary degree recipients, faculty and student award winners, and presenters – should report to the Henry Roberts Room on the third floor of the Computer Center at 9 a.m., regardless of the weather.



• If the rain plan is implemented, the main, university-wide ceremony will not take place. Instead, graduates and their guests should go directly to the rain plan sites, at the times listed below, for diploma presentation ceremonies. (Please note that two of the rain plan ceremonies are not scheduled to begin until 1 p.m.) If the rain plan is in effect, shuttle buses will transport guests from parking lots to the ceremony sites.

Following are the rain plan sites and times:

Hartford Art School – Gengras Student Union Cafeteria, 10:30 a.m.

College of Arts & Sciences – Chase Arena, Reich Family Pavilion (Sports Center), 10:30 a.m.

Barney School of Business – Auerbach Hall Lawn (tent), 10:30 a.m.

College of Education, Nursing and Health Professions – Chase Arena, Reich Family Pavilion (Sports Center), 1 p.m.

College of Engineering, Technology, and Architecture – Auerbach Hall Lawn (tent), 1 p.m.

The Hartt School – Lincoln Theater, 10:30 a.m.

Hillyer College – Millard Auditorium, 10:30 a.m.

University Studies – Wilde Auditorium, 10:30 a.m.
